The S&P 500 Index closed roughly flat, with real estate, materials, and utilities sectors dropping more than 1.6%, the telecommunications sector down 0.2%, while technology and consumer discretionary sectors rose 0.7%, and the energy sector increased by 1.1%.
The Nasdaq 100 Index rose 0.3%, with component stock AMD up 4.2%, Diamondback Energy up 4.1%, Tesla up 3.3%, and ON Semiconductor, ASML ADR, TTD, Applied Materials, Marvell Technology, Coherent, Texas Instruments, and NXP Semiconductors all rising by at least 2%. XEL, T-Mobile, and Gilead Sciences fell more than 2%, while Charter Communications dropped another 4%.
The index of the seven tech giants in the U.S. rose 0.5%, the index of Trump tariff losers increased by 0.4%, and the retail investor meme stock index fell 2.8%
