Li Auto's first pure electric SUV is embroiled in controversy over a heavy truck collision test. In response to netizens' doubts, the official Douyin account of Chenglong Trucks replied that the legal department is currently handling the matter. Regarding this issue, Li Auto responded to Sina Technology, stating that the super experiment of the Li Auto i8 colliding with a truck is a simulation based on real user traffic scenarios, fully entrusted to a professional third-party testing agency for testing and certification. The testing site, testing equipment, and randomly purchased test trucks from the market were all provided by the testing agency, and we did not specify anything. Li Auto stated that the Li Auto i8 underwent two collisions: the first was a head-on collision with an approximately 8-ton truck, generating a transient impact force of over 100 tons, and the second was a side collision with an approximately 8-ton truck, generating a transient impact force of over 80 tons. After both collisions, the A-pillar, B-pillar, C-pillar, and door beams showed no deformation, all nine airbags deployed, the battery pack showed no leakage or fire, and the doors automatically unlocked with the door handles popping open
