Reuters Beijing, August 4 - Chinese search engine giant Baidu Group (BIDU.O) (9888.HK) announced on Monday that its autonomous driving service, Luobo Kuaipao, has reached a strategic cooperation with the global leading mobility platform Lyft (LYFT.O). Luobo Kuaipao will provide driverless mobility services in Europe through the Lyft platform.
In a press release published on Baidu's WeChat official account, it was stated that both parties plan to deploy Luobo Kuaipao's sixth-generation driverless vehicles in Germany and the UK by 2026, and gradually expand the scale to thousands of vehicles in the European market to achieve large-scale implementation of driverless technology.
Since the beginning of this year, Luobo Kuaipao has accelerated its global layout. In mid-July, Baidu announced that Luobo Kuaipao has established a strategic partnership with the mobility service platform Uber (UBER.N), with plans to integrate thousands of driverless vehicles into Uber's global mobility network.
