HSBC rents additional office space at Canary Wharf in London
HSBC HOLDINGS (00005.HK) has signed a lease for additional office space at Canary Wharf in London after agreeing to move its global headquarters to the City of London two years ago.
According to a statement issued via email by the owner, Canary Wharf Group, the bank has leased 210,000 square feet of space at 40 Bank Street in East London’s financial district for a term of 15 years. Earlier reports indicated that the bank had negotiated for space at this location due to concerns that its new headquarters would be insufficient in size.
HSBC senior management was informed earlier this year that its new headquarters at Newgate Street in the City of London, which spans 592,000 square feet, may be short of 7,700 desks
