Tesla (TSLA.US) received a ride-sharing license from Texas on Friday, paving the way for the company to operate its autonomous taxi service under the new regulations governing self-driving cars in the state.
Tesla's Robotaxi has now been listed as a holder of a transportation network company license by Texas' licensing and regulatory agency, joining others such as Uber (UBER.US) and Lyft (LYFT.US) that also hold this license.
According to a new state law that took effect on September 1, this license has recently become a necessary requirement, regulating ride-sharing operations using autonomous vehicles in the same manner as services using human drivers
