Earlier this week, Hon Hai agreed to sell its electric vehicle factory in Ohio for $375 million, with Japan's SoftBank Group as the buyer behind the deal. SoftBank's move aims to kickstart the $500 billion Stargate data center project in the U.S. in collaboration with OpenAI and Oracle. According to informed sources, SoftBank is trying to involve Hon Hai in its plans to build AI data centers and infrastructure in the U.S., and taking over the Ohio electric vehicle factory is one of the outcomes of this effort.
