Western energy companies accelerate their return to Iraq
Since the beginning of this year, Iraq has welcomed a wave of Western energy companies returning. In the first half of the year, BP and TotalEnergies reached new cooperation agreements with Iraq worth tens of billions of dollars; in the second half, Chevron and Schlumberger also made new progress in their cooperation projects in Iraq. As the second-largest oil producer in OPEC, Iraq's oil export revenue accounts for over 90% of its fiscal revenue, and in recent years, it has been committed to restarting suspended oil and gas projects. The large influx of Western energy companies seems to indicate that a new game of energy security, oil and gas technology, and influence is once again unfolding in the heart of the Middle East
