
HSBC's new chairman remains undecided, Nelson will temporarily take the helm
HSBC HOLDINGS confirmed that Brendan Nelson will serve as interim chairman starting October 1, as the bank's search for a strong financier to permanently succeed Mark Tucker has been unsuccessful. Nelson joined the board in 2023 and spent most of his career at the accounting firm KPMG. He was designated as the interim chairman candidate in June of this year. The bank stated in a statement on Friday that, as previously announced, Mark Tucker will continue to serve as Group Chief Executive Officer and strategic advisor to the board during the search for a permanent successor
