OpenAI announced a partnership with Broadcom (AVGO.O) to jointly produce its first self-designed artificial intelligence processor. This is OpenAI's latest chip collaboration to ensure computing power supply and meet the surge in AI demand. Broadcom (AVGO.O) shares rose over 12% in pre-market trading. Both parties stated on Monday that OpenAI will be responsible for chip design, while Broadcom will begin development and deployment plans in the second half of 2026, launching custom chips with a total computing power of 10 gigawatts, equivalent to the electricity consumption of over 8 million American households.
