Wang Yi meets with Blackstone Chairman and CEO Stephen Schwarzman
On October 16, 2025, Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Director of the Central Foreign Affairs Office, met with Stephen Schwarzman, Chairman and CEO of Blackstone, in Beijing. Wang Yi praised Schwarzman for his long-standing efforts in promoting cultural exchanges and the development of China-U.S. relations. Wang Yi stated that China-U.S. relations are the most important bilateral relationship in today's world. For the two major powers, peaceful coexistence is a fundamental bottom line that must be upheld, and equality, respect, and mutual benefit are the correct ways to interact. "Decoupling and severing ties" is not a realistic or rational choice, and confrontation will only lead to mutual destruction. Both sides should engage in effective communication, properly resolve differences, and promote the stable, healthy, and sustainable development of China-U.S. relations. Schwarzman said that U.S.-China relations are crucial to the world. He hopes both sides will strengthen communication, eliminate misunderstandings, and promote their respective development and prosperity. He is willing to continue making positive efforts for this
