The globally renowned online travel group Expedia recently released the "2026 Global Travel Trends Report," which points out that Japan has officially risen to become the "central coordinate" of global tourism. Data shows that in the second quarter of this year, Tokyo secured the top spot for global hotel bookings for the first time, while Osaka also entered the global top ten for the first time, strongly establishing Japan's leading position in the international tourism market. The report emphasizes that, in addition to major gateway cities like Tokyo, the demand for in-depth experiences among tourists is significantly surging. The search interest in Okinawa has increased by 71%, while the search volume for previously overlooked non-popular areas has also risen significantly, including Hiroshima up by 55% and Tochigi up by 50%
