The "Energy Saving and New Energy Vehicle Technology Roadmap 3.0," guided by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and organized by the China Society of Automotive Engineers, was officially released today. The "Technology Roadmap 3.0" proposes six major goals for the development of China's automotive industry by 2040: the total carbon emissions of the automotive industry will peak ahead of the national carbon reduction commitment by 2028, with a reduction of over 60% from the peak by 2040; a transportation system centered on intelligent connected new energy vehicles will develop towards "zero accidents, zero casualties, and high efficiency"; the penetration rate of new energy vehicles will exceed 80%, accelerating the comprehensive electrification process of the automotive industry; a mature and sound ecological system for integrated intelligent connected vehicle infrastructure will be established, with high-level autonomous driving vehicle products achieving large-scale application; automotive technology innovation will achieve collaborative and integrated development of education, technology, and talent, making China a global source of original innovation in automotive technology, leading the world in original innovation capabilities; a modern automotive industry cluster that is innovation-led, data-driven, collaboratively efficient, resilient and safe, and low-carbon sustainable will be established, achieving high-end, intelligent, and green development; the global competitiveness of Chinese brands will be significantly enhanced, with key component enterprises deeply integrated into the global industrial system, entering the ranks of the world's automotive powerhouses
