Elon Musk said that he hopes to start construction of a production line for 1 million Optimus robots by the end of next year
Elon Musk stated during Wednesday's earnings call that Tesla will be ready to showcase the prototype of the next-generation Optimus robot V3 in the first quarter of next year, "possibly in February or March." He mentioned that Tesla plans to build a production line for 1 million Optimus robots and hopes to start construction by the end of next year. The company will implement "rolling changes" to the Optimus robot and will conduct "continuous iterations" in hardware design as the team discovers new things throughout the process. Musk noted that bringing Optimus to market is "very difficult," and the design of the robotic arm is similarly challenging, as creating a humanoid robot arm that functions like a human arm is a "formidable engineering challenge." He added that manufacturing is also a key challenge, as the supply chain for humanoid robots does not yet exist
