A spokesperson for the U.S. Department of Commerce stated that the U.S. government has not discussed equity stakes with quantum computing companies in exchange for federal funding. The statement noted that the Department of Commerce is currently not in discussions regarding equity stakes with quantum computing companies.
Earlier, The Wall Street Journal reported that the Trump administration was in talks with IonQ (IONQ.US), Rigetti (RGTI.US), and D-Wave Quantum (QBTS.US) regarding equity stakes.
IonQ and Rigetti saw their stock prices rise by 7.1% and 9.8% respectively yesterday (23rd), while D-Wave rose by 13.8%. The three stocks increased by 3.4%, 2.8%, and 6.3% respectively in after-hours trading
