Semiconductor company Advanced Micro Devices (AMD.US) saw its stock price rise more than 7% on Friday, as investors focused on reports of the company's progress in quantum computing collaboration with IBM (IBM.US). According to Reuters, a research paper scheduled for publication on Monday indicates that IBM has developed an algorithm that works in conjunction with quantum chips to address errors encountered by qubits. It is reported that the company is able to run the algorithm in real-time on a field-programmable gate array chip manufactured by AMD.
AMD's stock price increased by 7.5% to $252.67 per share. Meanwhile, IBM's stock price rose by 4.3% to $297.22 per share
