On October 28th local time, the social media platform "Truth Social," founded by former U.S. President Donald Trump, announced that it would allow users to bet on the outcomes of real-world events through the platform. According to the introduction, users can place bets on events in areas such as politics, economics, and sports via the mobile application, covering topics like "election results, changes in interest rates and inflation, price trends of commodities such as gold and crude oil," as well as "events from major sports leagues." U.S. federal regulators have not classified such "prediction markets" as gambling activities, so related transactions are regulated by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission, rather than by state gaming authorities
