The latest private job data in the U.S. was disappointing, reigniting hopes for a rate cut by the Federal Reserve. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by 559 points or 1.2%, reaching a new high in the market. The Hang Seng Index opened up 58 points or 0.2%, at 26,754 points; the National Index opened up 28 points or 0.3%, at 9,490 points; and the Hang Seng Tech Index opened up 15 points or 0.3%, at 5,939 points.
In the tech sector, Xiaomi (01810.HK) achieved sales of over 29 billion RMB during "Double Eleven," with its stock opening up 1% at 43.4 HKD. Alibaba (09988.HK) opened down 2.1% at 157.1 HKD, Tencent (00700.HK) opened up 0.8% at 655 HKD, NetEase (09999.HK) and Kuaishou (01024.HK) opened up 1.4% and 0.9%, respectively. Meituan (03690.HK) opened flat at 102 HKD, JD.com (09618.HK) opened up 0.1%, while Baidu (09888.HK) and Bilibili (09626.HK) opened down 0.2% and 0.1%. In the chip sector, SMIC (00981.HK) opened down 0.2%.
Automotive radar system provider Hesai (02525.HK) turned a profit of 260 million RMB in the third quarter and raised its full-year profit guidance. The stock's ADR price initially rose before sharply falling, opening down 10.8% in Hong Kong at 167.7 HKD. In the automotive sector, Nio (09866.HK) opened down 4.1%, XPeng (09868.HK) opened up 2.1%, and BYD (01211.HK) opened flat at 101.3 HKD.
Fangda (02777.HK) had its 1.68 billion RMB domestic bond restructuring plan approved. Among domestic property stocks, China Overseas (00688.HK), Longfor (00960.HK), and R&F Properties (01109.HK) opened up between 0.7% and 1.3%. Local real estate stock New World (00017.HK) opened flat at 7.54 HKD, with reports indicating discussions with potential overseas investors have stalled.
In the financial sector, HSBC (00005.HK) opened flat at 112.4 HKD, while Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (00388.HK) and AIA (01299.HK) opened up 0.6% and 0.9%, respectively. New York crude oil rose by 1.6%, and CNOOC (00883.HK) opened up 1.3%
