
Qualcomm launches new chip for industrial computers
Qualcomm (QCOM.US) announced on Thursday the launch of its Dragonwing IQ-X series of new processors, designed for industrial computers and machinery. The company stated that this series of chips can operate stably in harsh environments and provide best-in-class single-core and multi-core computing capabilities, as well as more efficient intelligent performance.
Nakul Duggal, General Manager of Qualcomm Technology Group, stated that this platform brings best-in-class performance of Qualcomm Oryon CPU to the core of industrial computers, making factories smarter and controllers more responsive.
The Dragonwing IQ-X series can be used with Windows-based devices, such as PLCs and panel PCs. Qualcomm noted that companies including Advantech, NEXCOM, and SECO will adopt this new series of processors, with the first related products expected to be launched soon
