The S&P 500 Index closed down 0.8% preliminarily, marking its fourth consecutive trading day of decline. The consumer discretionary sector fell 2.3%, the technology sector dropped 1.5%, the telecommunications sector rose 0.2%, and the energy sector increased by 0.7%.
The Nasdaq 100 Index closed down 1.1% preliminarily. Among the constituents, PDD closed down over 7% preliminarily, followed by Marvell Technology, Micron Technology, Amazon, AMD, CrowdStrike, Arm Holdings, Microsoft, and NVIDIA, which fell between 5.2% and 2.6%. Netflix rose 3.7%, Warner Bros. Discovery increased by 3.8%, and MicroStrategy (MSTR) rose 6.4%.
Home Depot closed down 6% preliminarily, leading the declines among Dow components along with Amazon, Microsoft, and NVIDIA, while VZ rose 1.1% and Merck increased by 4.1%.
The semiconductor index fell 2.1%, the banking index rose 0.5%, and small-cap stocks increased by 0.5%
