Tobacco giant Altria (MO.US) announced on Thursday that Billy Gifford, who has served as CEO since 2020, will retire in May next year, with Chief Financial Officer Salvatore Mancuso taking over.

Gifford plans to serve as an advisor after retirement, at least until the end of 2026. Mancuso, who joined the company in 1990 and has served as CFO for five years, will take on the challenge of addressing the decline in cigarette sales and driving revenue growth from new products such as e-cigarettes
