Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that if Russian President Vladimir Putin agrees to a 60-day ceasefire, he will hold a national referendum on the "peace plan." Zelensky pointed out that the referendum carries political, logistical, and security risks, and that 60 days is the minimum time needed for preparation. He believes that the 15-year security guarantee proposed by the United States is insufficient and hopes to reach a consensus with Trump on ending the conflict. If there is no consensus on territorial issues, the final decision must be made through a national referendum
On the 26th local time, CCTV reporter learned that Ukrainian President Zelensky stated that if Russian President Putin agrees to a 60-day ceasefire, he will submit the entire "peace plan" for a national referendum in Ukraine.
Zelensky pointed out that holding a referendum carries political, logistical, and security risks, and that 60 days is the minimum time required to complete the preparatory work.
In addition, regarding the U.S. proposal for a 15-year validity period for the security agreement with Ukraine, Zelensky believes this timeframe is still insufficient. He stated, "I think the period we need should exceed 15 years." If Trump can support Ukraine's position, he will consider it a "significant achievement."
Zelensky emphasized that he hopes to reach a consensus with Trump on the framework for ending the conflict.
