China Power (02380.HK) announced that its large wind power generation project located in Xinjiang — the China Power Shenhuo Mulei 800 MW self-supplied green electricity substitution wind power project — has successfully connected to the grid and is expected to generate 2.4 billion kilowatt-hours of green electricity annually.

This project is not merely about generating electricity for the grid, but is a joint venture with Shenhuo Group, using 800,000 kilowatts of wind power to directly replace the load of its self-supplied coal power units at its electrolytic aluminum plant. This is a landmark case of integrating green energy with high-energy-consuming industries, achieving decarbonization from the source, and serves as a demonstration for promoting the green transformation of mainland industries. The project can reduce carbon emissions by nearly 2 million tons annually, equivalent to saving 710,000 tons of standard coal
