Nestlé Hong Kong announces another batch of milk powder suspected of containing bacteria, has been discontinued and removed from shelves
The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department's Centre for Food Safety stated that Nestlé Hong Kong has voluntarily suspended and removed from shelves a batch of infant formula suspected of potentially using raw materials sourced from Bacillus cereus. The affected product is the 800g NAN OPTIPRO 1 formula 2 HMO, sourced from Germany.
A spokesperson for the Centre for Food Safety indicated that the Centre is working with Nestlé Hong Kong to seal off six suspected affected batches of infant formula, which have not been released into the market. Additionally, 15 batches are on their way to Hong Kong, and the Centre will also seal them upon arrival.
The Centre for Food Safety stated that so far, samples of infant formula tested for Bacillus cereus in the market have all yielded satisfactory results. The Environment and Ecology Bureau continues to closely monitor the supply situation of other formulas and maintains communication with other major suppliers to ensure that the supply of infant formula meets demand
