
Boeing's warning in 2011 may provide clues to the 2025 UPS cargo plane crash
On January 14, investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) stated that aircraft manufacturer Boeing issued a service letter in February 2011, notifying MD-11 (engine) operators that the "spherical bearing race" had experienced four failures on three different aircraft. The role of this component is to help mitigate high loads and vibrations. The NTSB disclosed this information in a rare update report, which was released between the preliminary investigation report and the final report.
