According to Xinhua News Agency, the Lebanese Presidential Palace issued a statement late Friday night on the 10th, saying that Lebanon and Israel have agreed to hold their first meeting at the U.S. Department of State on April 14th to discuss the announcement of a ceasefire and the date for initiating negotiations under U.S. auspices.
According to the aforementioned statement, through a phone call between the ambassadors of the two countries to Washington, Lebanon and Israel have had their first direct contact.
According to CCTV, citing the aforementioned statement, Lebanon's Ambassador to the U.S., Nada Hamad Mouawad, and Israel's Ambassador to the U.S., Yechiel Litvin, spoke by phone on the evening of the 10th, with the U.S. Ambassador to Beirut also participating.
The statement pointed out that this call is part of a series of diplomatic efforts aimed at facilitating a ceasefire and initiating negotiations, adding that both sides have agreed to hold their first meeting at the U.S. Department of State on April 14th to discuss the announcement of a ceasefire and the date for initiating negotiations under U.S. auspices.
