Within six months, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang and SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won are set to complete their fourth meeting. From Silicon Valley to San Jose, then Taipei, and now the upcoming trip to Seoul, this rare high-frequency interaction underscores the deeply integrated HBM supply chain between NVIDIA and SK hynix—with new contract prices potentially surging by as much as 100%. The Seoul summit boasts an even more prestigious lineup, with heads of LG, Naver, and Hyundai Motor all in attendance, expanding the agenda from AI chips to robotics and physical AI

High-level interactions between NVIDIA and SK Group are heating up at a rare frequency.

According to official news from SK Group, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang and SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won held talks in Taipei on June 1, engaging in in-depth discussions on cooperation prospects in the field of AI memory, marking the third meeting between the two this year. Meanwhile, industry insiders revealed that Huang plans to arrive in Seoul this Thursday and hold a series of meetings with heads of major South Korean chaebols on Friday, which will be the fourth encounter between the two within half a year.

The Taipei meeting coincided with the historic milestone of SK hynix's market capitalization breaking through $1 trillion. Executives from both sides discussed the significance of this milestone and reaffirmed their commitment to jointly exploring new frontiers in AI infrastructure.

Market attention is heavily focused on Huang's upcoming visit to Seoul, with analysts believing that the talks are expected to expand from AI chip cooperation to the fields of robotics and physical AI.

Notably, SK hynix Chairman Chey Tae-won stated at Computex Taipei today that he plans to double memory production capacity within the next five years to help alleviate the severe supply-demand imbalance in memory chips. Chey still believes that the memory shortage will persist until 2030.

Taipei Meeting: SK hynix Market Cap Breaks $1 Trillion as a Catalyst

The Taipei meeting took place during Computex Taipei. Chey Tae-won and SK hynix CEO and President Kwak No-jung jointly attended the opening of "GTC Taipei 2026" on June 1 and listened live to Huang's keynote speech.

During the speech, Huang introduced the mass production roadmap for the next-generation GPU platform "Vera Rubin" and NVIDIA's cooperative layout in the Asia-Pacific region. Following the keynote, executives from both sides immediately held private business talks. SK Group posted on its Facebook account that the gathering aimed to "jointly review the achievements of the two companies in the AI memory field and reaffirm the commitment to work together to explore new areas in AI infrastructure."

It is worth noting that while in Taipei, Huang also attended a "Korean Partners" event. In an interview with South Korean media, he specifically elaborated on the four key factors required to address the complexity of High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) and emphasized the importance of maintaining close cooperation with SK hynix.

The commercial background of this meeting is also drawing significant attention. Reports indicate that NVIDIA has signed new HBM supply contracts with memory chip manufacturers, including SK hynix.

Market speculation suggests that given NVIDIA's plan to adopt the sixth-generation HBM memory (HBM4) in its new AI computing platform "Vera Rubin" launched in the second half of the year, the price of the new round of HBM supply contracts may have risen significantly compared to previous ones, with increases potentially reaching 100%. If this news proves true, it will substantially boost SK hynix's profit outlook.

Expanded Chaebol Summit Lineup for Seoul Trip, High-Frequency Interaction with Four Meetings in Six Months

According to industry insiders, Huang plans to arrive in Seoul on Thursday night and hold a series of high-level meetings on Friday. In addition to Chey Tae-won, expected attendees include LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo, Naver Founder and Board Chairman Lee Hae-jin, and Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chairman Euisun Chung, who is actively considering participation.

Industry observers point out that the agenda for these talks is expected to go beyond the scope of AI semiconductor cooperation, extending to robotics technology and physical AI—the latter being an emerging direction focused on integrating artificial intelligence with real-world machines and systems. Huang has previously clearly listed robotics as one of the potential investment topics for his South Korea trip.

The frequency of meetings between Huang and Chey is quite rare in the industry. According to South Korean media reports, after meeting in Silicon Valley last February, the two met again at the GTC 2026 conference in San Jose this March. This Taipei meeting was the third this year. If the Seoul trip proceeds as planned, it will bring the total to four meetings within six months.

In an interview in Taipei, Huang previewed his Seoul itinerary in his characteristic relaxed style: "I might go to South Korea to eat fried chicken or grilled pork belly." This echoes the scene from his visit to Seoul last October, where he shared "fried chicken and beer" with Samsung Electronics Executive Chairman Lee Jae-yong and Euisun Chung.
