NVIDIA and Toyota deepen AI collaboration, providing software and hardware support for smart cities, transportation systems, and smart factory operations. The partnership, which began with a decade-long collaboration on autonomous driving, aims to extend physical AI from automobiles to robotics and smart city domains, and has previously worked with Ready Robotics to enhance factory efficiency

NVIDIA will supply Toyota Motor with artificial intelligence (AI) hardware and software to support smart city construction, intelligent transportation systems, and automotive manufacturing operations, further deepening the decade-long partnership that began with the development of autonomous vehicles.

NVIDIA stated in a press release on Thursday that the two companies will deepen their collaboration to bring AI into the real world. Previously, they also collaborated with the U.S.-based Ready Robotics to develop software aimed at improving safety and production efficiency in factory workshops.

"We are expanding our collaboration to drive the development of physical AI from the automotive sector into robotics and smart cities," said Deepu Talla, Vice President of Robotics and Edge AI at NVIDIA. This year, the focus of the entire industry has shifted towards pushing AI out of data centers and directly applying it to end devices and various machines.

NVIDIA co-founder and CEO Jensen Huang led a delegation to Japan this week to expand business and stimulate market enthusiasm for the potential of its new technologies. Earlier this week, Huang's longtime friend and fellow AI advocate Masayoshi Son stated at the SoftBank World event that the skepticism about over-investment in AI is "extremely foolish," urging Japanese companies to seize the current opportunities
