
Strong Demand for CME's 24/7 Gold Futures in First Weekend: Nearly 15,000 Contracts Traded as Retail Investors Actively Enter the Market

CME Group, the world's leading derivatives market operator, announced today that during the first weekend following the launch of its new 24-hour, seven-days-a-week trading mechanism, the trading volume of its 1-ounce gold futures contracts approached 15,000, with a notional value of approximately $60 million.

CME Group offers the world's leading benchmark contracts for gold futures. Year-to-date, the average daily notional trading value of CME Group's gold futures has reached a record $125 billion.
CME Group launched its 1-ounce gold futures contract in January 2025, and the contract achieved an average daily volume (ADV) of 87,000 contracts in the first half of 2026.
In the first half of 2026, driven by active trading in precious metals, CME Group's metals business set a new record, with an average daily volume of 1.3 million contracts, representing a 55% year-over-year increase.
CME's stock price has fallen 5.3% year-to-date, closing slightly up 0.02% on Monday.
