According to CCTV International News, the Japan Meteorological Agency reported that at approximately 16:27 local time today (July 28), or around 15:27 Beijing time, a magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan. The maximum seismic intensity recorded was "Shindo 7," the highest level on Japan's 10-point seismic intensity scale, with a focal depth of 10 kilometers.

According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, at 17:08 local time today (July 28), or 16:08 Beijing time, another earthquake of magnitude 6.1 occurred in Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan. The maximum seismic intensity was "Shindo 5 Lower" (the fifth highest on Japan's 10-point seismic intensity scale), with an extremely shallow focal depth.

Previously, the Japan Meteorological Agency had issued a tsunami advisory for the coastal areas of the Ariake and Yatsushiro Seas, expecting tsunami waves to reach a height of 1 meter. It is currently estimated that the tsunami has already reached the coast. The Japan Meteorological Agency urged that areas at sea and near the coast are dangerous. People in the water should immediately go ashore and stay away from the coast. Do not go to the seaside to check on the tsunami situation until the tsunami advisory is lifted.

The China Earthquake Networks Center officially determined that a magnitude 6.8 earthquake occurred in Kyushu, Japan (32.65° N, 130.75° E) at 15:27 on July 28, with a focal depth of 10 kilometers.
