China Unicom, the telecom giant, is building a US$390 million data center with 20,000 petaflops of AI computing power using only China-made AI chips, media report, with 3,579 petaflops already activated, from 23,000 chips so far installed. 72% of those chips were purchased from Alibaba’s chip unit, T-Head, with the rest from AI chip makers MetaX, Biren Tech, and Zhonghao Xinying. The plan is to also use chips from Tecorigin, Moore Threads, and Enflame. #China #semiconductors
