news that $Uber Tech(UBER.US) was planning to invest in the autonomous manufacturers’ latest equity raises. While many here have disagreed with our long-held view that other autonomous manufacturers will achieve unsupervised autonomy at around the same time as $Tesla(TSLA.US), $Pony AI(PONY.US) and $Baidu(BIDU.US) continue to scale their unsupervised ride hailing operations across China at a rapid rate. Both PONY and BIDU reportedly can build L4 autonomous vehicles with sensor suites of lidar, cameras, and radar for a BOM of under $35K/vehicle. We don’t have information on WeRide cost per vehicle.
