People confuse volatility with risk. They are not the same thing.
Risk is the possibility of losing your money permanently. Volatility is just the price you pay for admission to high returns. I view these mood swings in the stock price as the "entry fee" for owning a generational company. If you can't handle the ride, you don't deserve the destination.
I am happy to pay the fee. I remain comfortable holding through the turbulence because the destination hasn't changed.
