Legal disputes escalate as Arm cancels key technology licensing agreement with Qualcomm

Arm has revoked a license that allowed its long-term partner Qualcomm to use Arm's intellectual property to design chips, escalating legal disputes around key smartphone technology. According to a document seen by foreign media, Arm has issued a 60-day notice to Qualcomm, notifying them of the cancellation of the so-called architecture license agreement. This contract allowed Qualcomm to develop its own chips based on the standards owned by Arm. This showdown could disrupt the smartphone and personal computer markets, as well as disrupt the finances and operations of the two most influential companies in the semiconductor industry. Qualcomm sells processors in the billions every year, and most Android smartphones use Qualcomm's technology. If the agreement is terminated, the company may have to stop selling the majority of its products, which account for about $39 billion of its revenue, or face substantial loss claims
