Ministry of Commerce spokesperson responds to media inquiries: On August 15, China filed a complaint with the WTO against Canada's import restrictions on steel and other products. Canada, disregarding WTO rules, implemented steel tariff quotas and imposed discriminatory tariffs on products containing so-called "Chinese steel components," which is a typical unilateral and protectionist practice that harms China's legitimate rights and interests and disrupts the stability of the global steel industry chain and supply chain. China expresses strong dissatisfaction and resolute opposition to this.
