Investments include individual stocks, mutual funds, and retirement accounts such as 401(k) or IRA. Since April 2020, this figure has more than tripled. Just since March, the median value of these stock market investments has increased by $100,000, a rise of 50%. Meanwhile, stocks now account for a record 52% of U.S. household financial allocations, about 5 percentage points higher than the peak during the 2000 dot-com bubble. Americans are investing more in stocks than ever before.
