Some things end when the interests are settled, so don't be unwilling to accept it. The winner takes all, and the loser is left with nothing. The one who holds the dominant position must have the biggest fist.

For other things where interests are not yet settled, the tug-of-war continues. It's exhausting for everyone, and in the end, it might not look good for anyone.
