Next Week Preview: Big Non-Farm Payrolls + CPI to Make Joint Appearance

Here's a preview for everyone about next week. Next week, the US Big Non-Farm Payrolls and CPI data are coming together.

First, on Tuesday night, there will be the US December retail sales data. This directly reflects consumer spending and is very important for a consumption-driven country like the US.

Then, on Wednesday night, the unemployment rate and Big Non-Farm Payrolls data from last week will be released. Market forecasts predict the unemployment rate will remain at 4.4%, same as last month, while the Big Non-Farm Payrolls are forecast to add 70,000 jobs. However, their ADP employment change, layoff data, job openings, and unemployment claims data from last week were all weak. So, it's hard to say if this Big Non-Farm Payrolls can meet market expectations. Additionally, the 2025 Big Non-Farm Payrolls revision data they release is also crucial.

Following that, early Thursday morning, there will be a 10-year US Treasury auction. This will affect Treasury yields and needs attention.

In the evening, there are the routine unemployment claims numbers to watch; last week's exceeded expectations.

Finally, on Friday, the heavyweight January CPI inflation data will be released. Market forecasts predict inflation will continue to fall to 2.5%. If it turns out as optimistically as the market expects, that would be a significant positive for the market.

Alright, I'll update this preview every weekend. Thank you, everyone.
