$Uber Tech(UBER.US)$Tesla(TSLA.US) You might order Uber Eats several times a year and take several Uber taxis, but you might only buy a Tesla every few years, or maybe never. Uber is a light-asset company, while Tesla is a heavy-asset one. Almost everyone needs Uber's services, like transportation and food delivery, but people don't necessarily need a Tesla. Autonomous driving is one of Tesla's big promises, but unfortunately, it's too arrogant and looks down on Uber. The autonomous driving race isn't just Tesla; there's Waymo, Pony.ai, Weride, Lucid, and many others. However, everyone needs the user entry point that Uber provides. Uber has indeed done this, partnering with numerous autonomous driving companies to let the competition heat up within Uber's network. As for Tesla? Wait a few more years. When others scale up, costs will naturally come down. By then, Tesla's low cost will just be a spare tire for customers, a small perk for Tesla owners.
