美國聯儲局隔晚宣布加息 0.25 厘，但匯豐銀行中午宣布，該行最優惠利率將維持不變，保留在目前的 5.625 厘的水平。匯豐對上一次於去年 12 月 16 日調整最優惠利率，當時加息 25 點子。
同時，匯豐給予港元儲蓄存款戶口的利率將會維持不變，戶口結餘 5000 元或以上的年利率均為 0.625 厘；5000 元以下則維持零息。另外，匯豐全面理財總值達 100 萬元及以上的額外年利率維持 0.001 厘。
