Rate Of Return$Nokia Oyj(NOK.US) Nokia has signed a formal agreement to acquire NXP's semiconductor manufacturing plant in Chandler, Arizona, USA, to produce more advanced optical communication chips. Although this means they now have three plants! This also explains why the free cash flow deficit of 732 million euros this quarter was directed towards accumulating raw materials and working capital for pending receivables (322 million), actual employee severance and restructuring costs (256 million), and capital expenditures for factory expansion and machinery upgrades (154 million).
There are plenty of orders, and a lot of money has been invested, but the speed at which capacity converts to revenue is too slow. I knew back in 2024 that investments were being made in San Jose. But production won't start until the fourth quarter. The newly acquired NXP plant won't be ready until 2029. The pie is there, but you're just buying the flour right now 😩. The factories need to speed up!
