Google Q2 2026 Earnings Summary

Alphabet, Google's parent company, reported strong overall revenue in its Q2 2026 earnings, continuing a steady growth trend. Total revenue for the quarter reached $119.796 billion, a 24% year-over-year increase, marking 12 consecutive quarters of double-digit growth and setting the highest quarterly growth rate since 2023.

Core business performance showed divergence but remained resilient. Traditional advertising grew steadily, with search and YouTube ad revenues increasing by 17% and 13% year-over-year respectively, solidifying the core foundation. The high-growth Google Cloud segment delivered explosive results, with revenue surging 82% year-over-year, significantly exceeding market expectations. With ample order backlog, it has become the company's core growth engine.

In terms of profitability, net profit skyrocketed 298% year-over-year to $112.107 billion, primarily driven by equity investment gains. Excluding these gains, operating net profit was slightly below market expectations. Impacted by increased R&D investment in AI computing power, the company recorded negative free cash flow for the first time, while raising its full-year capital expenditure guidance to $195-205 billion, further expanding its layout in the AI sector.

All in all, while Google's traditional core business remains stable and its cloud business is breaking through strongly, the massive AI investment brings short-term pressure on profitability. Balancing growth and investment will be key to future development.
