Elon Musk responded to U.S. President Donald Trump's remarks about canceling his government contracts, announcing that his space exploration company SpaceX will immediately initiate the retirement process for the Dragon spacecraft.

Tesla investor Ross Gerber believes that the verbal spat with Trump is a disaster for Musk.

Musk's actions are expected to lead to a flood of shareholder lawsuits against Tesla.

SpaceX's valuation may also be halved as a result.

Tesla's stock price (TSLA) fell 2.1% in after-hours trading, while Rocket Lab (RKLB) rose 7.3% in after-hours trading.

AST SpaceMobile Inc. closed up 7.53% and rose 4.41% in after-hours trading, EchoStar Corp. closed up 17.47% with no movement in after-hours trading, and Viasat Inc. closed up 2.59% and rose 0.5% in after-hours trading
