According to information released by comprehensive media and relevant regulatory agencies, the German BMW Group will recall over 330,000 vehicles due to potential short circuit hazards in the starter and related components. According to DPA, more than 130,000 vehicles in Germany are affected by this BMW recall plan. BMW has not yet announced the global recall number, but considering that this recall involves multiple models produced between September 2015 and September 2021, the scope of impact may cover more countries, and the actual recall scale may exceed the announced figures. Additionally, according to a recall notice released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in the United States, BMW will recall nearly 200,000 vehicles locally, which are models produced from 2019 to 2022. The affected vehicles' "starter relay may corrode, leading to overheating and short circuit of the relay," posing a fire risk. The agency advises owners to park their vehicles outdoors and away from buildings until the issue is resolved. It is reported that due to the recall, the vehicles will have their starters replaced, and some models will also need to install more powerful batteries, which may incur high cumulative costs
