Trump Denies Frequent Calls with Warsh: Only One Conversation Since Warsh Took Office
On Monday, Trump stated that he had spoken with Federal Reserve Chair Warsh a few days ago, marking the only conversation since Warsh assumed the role. This statement refutes earlier foreign media reports claiming that Trump and Warsh had multiple phone calls, breaking with the customary protocol between U.S. presidents and Federal Reserve Chairs
U.S. President Trump stated on Monday that he had spoken with Federal Reserve Chair Warsh a few days ago, noting that this was the only conversation they have had since Warsh took office as Fed Chair.
Speaking at the White House that day, Trump said he had only one brief conversation with Warsh. “Just one talk,” Trump said.
Trump added that Warsh would be responsible for leading the Federal Reserve, pointing out that the Fed Chair must work with the Board.
“He will lead the Federal Reserve. I know what he wants to do, but he is responsible for running the Federal Reserve. He has a Board; the Federal Reserve is not just his sole decision. If it were up to him alone, things would be different, but he also has a Board,” Trump said.
Earlier foreign media reports claimed that Trump and Warsh had multiple phone calls, breaking with the customary protocol observed by previous U.S. presidents in their dealings with Federal Reserve Chairs. Trump’s latest remarks denied these reports.
As previously mentioned by Wallstreetcn, Warsh had no phone conversations with Trump in June.
